WHY IS LINEN SO EXPENSIVE?

Regarding price, where to start? Linen comes from the flax plant, and cultivation of these crops is extremely expensive: it’s more difficult to spin, and there are many labor-intensive stages to the production process.

SHOULD YOU IRON LINEN?

Really is no need to iron linen garments, unless they have become really crusted in fact we love the inherent natural creases and crumples – they are what give linen it’s drapey, relaxed, soft feel …… White linen is better ironed on both sides, whilst dark linen should be pressed only on the reverse side.  

IS LINEN A LUXUARY?

Linen is a luxury fabric, popular in both ancient and modern times.  Made from the fibers sourced from the stems of the flax plants, linen is up to three times stronger than cotton.  This gives it great durability, allowing linen products to be passed down from generation to generation with long-lasting appeal.  

IS LINEN COOLER THAN COTTON?

Linen keeps you cooler that cotton.  Two main factors that make linen cooler than cotton ate it’s breathability and the ability to wick away moisture.  This means you will sweat less, when wearing linen, as the wide, lengthy fibers of linen allow air to pass through the fabric, keeping you cool.  

WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS OF LINEN?

One of the only cons that one might consider is price.  Fabrics like cotton are generally less that linen.   Pros:

• Linen is moisture resistant
• Bacteria do not easily grow in linen
• Linen is hypoallergenic
• Linen is breathable
